Tibby Speare, Jewelry artist, Pine Moon Fine Art Gallery
Designing and creating jewelry has been a part of my life ever since I can remember. Luckily for me, in my early years, I frequented my neighbor’s art studio, also known as “Magic School.” We created all sorts of things: wire-wrapped sea glass necklaces, clay beads, stained glass pendants, etc. Our lifelong joke has been that the lead-based solder we used in those days sparked a little extra creative zeal in us! In addition to jewelry, I studied weaving and hand-painted silk and owned a successful business called Sumptuous Silks, from 1987-1993. For the past 20 years, I have designed, produced and sold hundreds of pieces of jewelry utilizing high quality materials such as precious and semi-precious gems, freshwater pearls, natural shells, Swarovski crystals, Artisan lampworked glass and silver or gold beads that are cherry-picked from all over the world. At the moment, my color palette preference tends towards the utilization of Turquoise, Apatite, Kyanite or Larimar, the calming colors of “all-rightness” with the world. I am also learning about and experimenting with metalsmithing techniques, which is really exciting because it infuses the pieces with a lot of energy and people respond to that. Fabrication and design, forging and hammering, stamping and soldering, primping and polishing- you will see in my upcoming body of new works! My jewelry has been available at farmer’s markets and art fairs such as Art in the Park, Holidays in the Rockies and Hometown Holidays, as well as retail venues including the Circle 7 Gallery in Steamboat, Steamboat Art Company, Artisans’ Market, Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, Steamboat Art Museum Gift Store, Red Contemporary Gallery, Remember Me, Urban Laundry, Ohana, and the Diane Guigliotta Gallery and The Craftsman House in St Petersburg Florida. My work is currently available at the local Pine Moon Fine Art Gallery. I strive to create jewelry that will energize and empower, as the pieces become an outward stylistic expression of one’s inner beauty, grace, and joyfulness. My hope is that the magic still lingers in my work. Please feel free to contact me at (970) 846-9707 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
